This entertaining young couple decided to cross the bridge from an apartment in Brooklyn to a more upscale home on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. This Manhattan apartment, however, housed a kitchen that was less than eighty square feet, and narrow in shape. Our professional designers took on a challenge of making the most out of this limited space to accommodate homeowner’s frequent need to entertain family and friends. Our designer suggested opening the wall between the dining room and kitchen to create an intimate corner for a cozy breakfast area. To brighten the room, a glass mosaic backsplash was used, augmenting the granite countertop that was extended toward the living room where the small sitting area resides. Paying attention to functionality as well as aesthetics of design, designers incorporated into the kitchen design stainless steel high-end appliances. Custom cabinetry provides a rich and smooth feel to the room, while porcelain tile in cool gray accents the black granite countertops, making the most out of a narrow kitchen space suitable for city life.
